A Dull Shear Costs More Than A Sharpening.

Pushing through hair instead of cutting it is how you end up with an aching hand at 4 p.m., fold-over on your ends, and a client who books somewhere else. Your shears are the only tool in your kit that touches every single guest. They deserve better than a guy with a bench grinder in his trunk.

We Sharpen The Edge Your Shear Was Born With.

Japanese shears are built on a convex — HAMAGURI — edge. That's what gives you a clean slide cut and a silent close. A grinding wheel flattens that geometry in seconds and it never comes back.

We work by hand, on stones, to restore the original convex bevel. Then we set your tension, replace worn stoppers and bumpers, and put every pair through a three-point inspection before it ships.

  • Full convex (HAMAGURI) edge restoration on each blade
  • Hand honing and burr removal
  • Tension calibration and pivot service
  • Stopper, bumper, and finger-rest replacement as needed
  • Three-point cut test before it leaves the bench
  • Protective shear case — yours to keep
  • USPS Priority Mail both directions, tracked and insured to $100

Questions, Answered.

How long will I be without my shears?

Priority Mail runs 2–3 days each direction, and we turn shears around within ten business days of receiving them — usually faster. Door to door you're typically looking at a week and a half. If you only own one pair, order on a Monday and send them out on your day off so you lose the least chair time.

Are my shears insured while they're in transit?

Yes. Every leg ships USPS Priority Mail with tracking and $100 of USPS insurance included. If your shears are worth more than that, tell us at checkout and we'll add coverage.

What if my shears need more than a sharpening?

We inspect every pair before we touch a stone. If yours need corrective work, we text you a photo and the cost before doing anything. You approve it, or we send them back as-is.

What brands do you work on?

All of them. Japanese and German steel, convex and beveled, swivels, thinners, texturizers, left-handed. We sell Above shears ourselves, so we know what a factory edge is supposed to feel like.

Do you sharpen clipper blades or grooming shears by mail?

Clipper blades and grooming tools are handled separately — text (512) 705-5905 and we'll set it up. This page is for salon and barber shears.

Do you sharpen medical or veterinary instruments?

Yes, through our sister service at tsemedsharp.com.

What if my package gets lost?

Every leg ships with USPS tracking and $100 of insurance, and we monitor both directions. In fifteen years we have never lost a customer's shears, and if a carrier ever does, we make it right.

Why is one shear $65 when ten are $35.50 each?

Because postage costs the same whether the envelope holds one pair or six. Priority Mail runs three ways on every order — out to you, back to us, and home again — and that cost gets split across however many shears are inside. One pair carries it alone. That's also why we tell locals to book a mobile visit instead.

Can my whole salon send in together?

That's the cheapest way to do it by a wide margin. Pick the tier that matches your total count, ship one envelope, and we tag each pair by stylist. Ten shears works out to $35.50 each versus $65 for a single.
